The past two days have been incredibly busy. The business cycle for my job has three really peak times, the longest of which being from mid-November until the end of January. Most of my time has been focused on work. However, that was interrupted yesterday when a fire broke out across the street from my store. The building that burned housed a commercial space on the bottom that was being prepped for a youth center while the upstairs was apartments that housed students from the university. The fire shutdown Main Street in front of my store and business ground to a halt as everyone watched the events unfold.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the fire, and all the pets were removed. One policeman was taken to the hospital for some inhalation after going into the building to look for residents, but he was treated and quickly released. The students that lived in the apartments lost everything, but the community is already coming together with donations for the victims.
In other news, I am continuing to get my steps in and working toward a good weigh-in on Monday.
